  1.                             Pecan Slobodka Cyrillic
  2.                             A PC Shareware Typeface
  3.  
  4. Slobodka is a Cyrillic typeface in a "Romanesque" style. Stylistically, it 
  5. most most closely resembles (and looks good with) Times-Roman, medium weight.
  6.  
  7. Slobodka is named after the European Yeshiva which produced many of the 
  8. gedolim and roshei yeshiva responsible for the growth of Torah in America.
  9.  
  10. Included in this archive are bitmap fonts for the HP Laserjet printer in 6, 8, 
  11. 10, 12, 14 and 24 point sizes. Screen fonts in these sizes for Xerox Ventura
  12. Publisher are also included.
  13.  
  14. We've also supplied a Postscript version of the typeface, as well as Ventura 
  15. width tables for Laserjet and Postscript.
  16.  
  17. Slobodka has been tested with Ventura, in both Postscript and HP versions. You 
  18. should be able to use the typeface in other PC applications, that support 
  19. these printers, however.

  45.                              INSTALLATION AND USE

  48. To install Slobodka for use with Ventura, copy the EGA files to your VENTURA 
  49. directory. If you're using a Laserjet, copy the .SFP files and SLOBO-HP.WID to 
  50. your VENTURA directory, as well (you can discard the .PFA file and the other 
  51. .WID file). If you're using a Postscript printer, copy SLOBODKA.PFA to your
  52. VENTURA\PSFONTS directory, and copy SLOBO-PS.WID to your VENTURA directory 
  53. (you can discard the .SFP files and the other .WID file).

  55. Start Ventura and, from the Options menu, select "Add/Remove Fonts". Click on 
  56. "Merge Width Tables" and select the width table you just copied to your
  57. VENTURA directory. The font is now installed.

  59. You use Slobodka just as you would use any other downloadable font.

  65. Slobodka is a shareware typeface. It is copyright by, and the property of, 
  66. Pecan Software Systems, Inc. You may try Slobodka for a period of one month to 
  67. see if it meets your needs. If it does, (ie. you don't wipe the typeface off 
  68. your system) you MUST register and pay for your use of this product. Please 
  69. send $35 to Pecan Software Systems, Inc., 1410 39th Street, Brooklyn, NY 
  70. 11218.

  72. Registration entitles you to news of upgrades and enhancements to Slobodka and 
  73. other Pecan typefaces. Registered users may purchase upgrades at reduced
  74. prices.

  76. You may freely distribute Slobodka PROVIDED the entire archive file, including 
  77. this READ.ME, is included, with no additions, subtractions or modifications.

  79. We waive the registration fee for organizations (not individuals) who use this 
  80. typeface for bringing Russian Jews closer to observance of their religion. We 
  81. do ask, however, that these organizations register so that we may keep them 
  82. informed of enhancements and new products.

  101.                              PLANNED ENHANCEMENTS

  104. Pecan intends to continue to enhance Slobodka, as well as its other typefaces. 
  105. Planned enhancements include the addition of boldface and italic versions of
  106. Slobodka, as well as a san-serif ("Helvetica" style) Cyrillic typeface.

  108. Slobodka will soon also be available on the Apple Macintosh, along with the
  109. other Pecan fonts.
